Thank you Mr. Dickens

On this date in 1843, Charles Dickens gave a lasting Christmas gift to the theater. It was on this day that "A Christmas Carol" was first published. This classic is not a staple of American theaters at the holidays. To loosely quote Garrison Keillor; any theater struggling to meet its budget will end the year in the black if they have an actor who can pull off Scrooge. All joking aside, I am glad that we have this wonderful story that actually did revive the English speaking culture's sense of the Christmas spirit. God bless you Charles Dickens. God bless us everyone.
