Bea Arthur died today. While she was best known for her television work she also had her impact on Broadway. She created the roles of Yente in Fiddler on the Roof (1964) and Vera Charles in Mame (1966). Arthur's most recognizable work was in the title role of sitcom Maude and for being one of The Golden Girls winning Emmys for both.She was 86.
