Jose Rivera creates a post-apocalyptic world in this great play. Marisol is the story of a woman whose guardian angel goes off to fight against heaven and she has to now fend for herself. It is a story of self of reliance but also of overcoming both personal biases and perceptions of reality to make yourself whatever you want to be in the quest for happiness. Rivera does a beautiful for creating a surrealistic world that is roughly mirrors New York, but all the rules and familiar things have changed.
Both lyric and deadly, Marisol is a masterpiece that must read if you haven't already seen a performance.
