Pennsylvania to Tax Cultural Events, Tickets

The Philidelphia Inquirer is reporting that the Pennsylvania legislature has passed measure to impose sales tax on cultural event. This doesn't mean that cultural institutions will loose their tax exempt status, but it means that their patrons will have to pay tax when they purchase their tickets. Movie cinemas and sporting events are still exempt from charging the taxes that now apply to theatre, symphonies, museums, ballets, and other forms of arts and culture.
