Zak Leaves - Ensemble to Form

For the first time in its 27-year history, Bailiwick Repertory is facing a change in Artistic leadership. Bailiwick's one and only Artistic Director David Zak is retiring. He will be succeeded by the current Executive Director, Kevin Mayes, who will be forming a resident Ensemble of artists similar to the format of many other Off-Loop Chicago companies. This is yet another major change for the veteran theatre since it announced it would be leaving its long time home on Belmont to become an itinerant company late last summer.

Zak presided over such successes as Jerry Springer: the Musical, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Dr. Sex, and the long running Naked Boys Singing.
